CROYDONWRITES
Meet the participants of CroydonWrites 2019...
Elizabeth Sheppard - Mentor/Writer
A rollercoaster ride of unsuitable careers including nutritionist, tourist adviser and college administrator led Elizabeth to the realisation that she had been a writer all along. She now loves her work as an editor for a south London publishing house. Her own books are the last thing she thinks about each night, and the first thing she thinks of every morning.

Harmony Nanton - Writer
I am a 19 year old aspiring actress who will soon be graduating from The BRIT School. I spend my spare time mostly working in jobs which do not challenge me nor particularly interest me but earn me some well deserved cash. In my spare time I write. I like writing scripts, short stories and sharing my spoken word poetry to those that need to hear it. I also love to watch theatre but sadly, cannot always afford to do so.
Being a young independent woman of mixed heritage (descriptions I wish I could tick on compulsory forums rather than my sexuality and gender) who happens to love writing and trying new things, I thought I would give reviewing performances another try. I will be reviewing the performances held at ‘The Croydonites Festival 2019’ once again. I will be looking for performances which are relevant and relatable to myself, as well as performances which leave me wanting more and stay with me - even after the show ends.

Amy Jones - Writer
Amy Jones has been a Croydon resident, and a keen theatre-goer, all her life. Although the theatre bit took a bit of a backseat whilst she studied film, Amy has found a renewed love for the stage, and for the way stories are told in interesting, funny, or challenging ways.

Anand Nair - Writer
I am a reader (addicted, without discrimination) and occasional writer. My blogsite is anandnair-fireflies.blogspot.com and is full of my unedited outpourings. My twitter handle is anandedathy and I must own up to making fun of the Tories quite often. Politically, I am left of left wing and liberal-minded in attitudes. I have written and self-published two novels, a memoir, and a Mathematics teacher-training book. The memoir is called AS FATHERS GO and will account for many of my aberrations, minor and major. I live in Purley, Indian-style, with my long-suffering daughter, quick-silver grand daughter and tolerant son. I was a Maths teacher in my other life. I enjoy gardening and spoiling my two pet cats and my one (thank God) Jack Russell, Lily.

Liz Stark - Writer
I'm a Croydon local, big theatre lover and as luck would have it, the social media manager for Croydonites (hello, dream job!). Mostly to be found parenting three small kids and a rather annoying cat, I've absolutely loved seeing the performances at this year's festival. Reviewing them has reminded me just how much I enjoy writing and inspired me to get cracking again on the much-neglected blog on all things local I started pre-kids and cat: The Croydon Facelift https://medium.com/@thecroydonface

Helen Butlin - Writer
Helen is a long time local resident and Croydon fan. Her approach to writing is somewhat similar to Daisy Steiner (from ‘Spaced’) Having two small children, writing time is limited but once upon a time she studied philosophy and literature. Working in mental health, she is interested in what connects us and what it is possible to communicate, with or without words.
