Agudo Dance Company / HERO - The Hero with a Thousand Faces

The Hero with a Thousand Faces is an evocative dance work by Jose Agudo | Agudo Dance Company, inspired by Joseph Campbell’s concept of the monomyth and the universal journey of the hero.

Merging the rhythmic precision of Kathak, the fiery passion of flamenco, and the fluidity of contemporary dance, Agudo crafts a multi-layered exploration of a personal odyssey from West to East.

Set to an immersive score by Bernhard Schimpelsberger, with additional compositions by Giuliano Modareli and Vincenzo Lamagna, the work traverses the cultural soundscapes of India and Spain. Each form embodies a stage of the hero’s path—its challenges, transformations, and revelations—told through the body’s language.

Both deeply personal and universally resonant, The Hero with a Thousand Faces celebrates the transformative power of the journey across cultures and the eternal quest for self-discovery. Jose Agudo invites audiences to witness the hero’s passage and reflect on their own paths of growth, struggle, and triumph.
