Simple Cypher's Roll Play, performed in the heart of Croydon town centre, was an unforgettable experience that captivated the attention of ordinary people simply passing by. The unconventional dynamic of the three characters was only the beginning of the undeniably artistic yet comedic storytelling of this show. Even without any words said, the performers were able to convey a clear story to the viewers, allowing them to fully understand and ultimately build a connection with it, making it more immersive and enjoyable. The story of three men, all in different stages of life, connect at a bus stop. With the connection starting off as hostile and unfamiliar but then friendly and amiable, we got to witness a wholesome friendship blossom between the characters. The performers' commitment to their stunts, specifically with the cyr wheel, usage of their props and fun tricks like juggling all held the audience captive to the show, and their ability to convey their emotions of pain, despair and frustration resonated with us, undoubtedly leaving a lasting impression. The experience was anything but simple, with the amount of dedication and effort invested into this project. The audience certainly admired this show as by the end, flowers of appreciation were given to the wonderful performers. Simple Cypher's Roll Play is not a show to be passed by.
Roll Play was presented as part of Croydonites Festival on 11 October 2025 in Croydon Town Centre.
